Sr. Everildis Becwar

Sister Everildis Becwar was born April 11, 1897 and departed this life October 25, 1975 in the 55th year of her Religious life.

Youngest of ten children, Mary Becwar was born in Eastman, Wisconsin.  Mary attended high school at Seneca and pursed a Normal Training Course at La Crosse, Wisconsin.  Clerking in Marshall Field, Chicago, was one of Mary's interesting "growing into adulthood" experiences.

Sister entered Saint Francis Convent in 1920, receiving the holy habit June 14, 1921.  She made perpetual profession of vows June 21, 1926.

Sister taught for 34 years at the following: Sugar Creek, Sacred Heart and Holy Ghost, Dubuque, Garnavillo, Ashton, St. Mary's Waterloo, Templeton, Sibley, and Manchester.  She then moved into the role of homemaker at St. Francis Home, St. Bernard Seminary, and Immaculate Conception Convent.  Sister retired to Mount Saint Francis in 1966.
