
Sister Cecil Roling was born March 28, 1897 and departed this life October 5, 1996 in the hundredth year of her earthly life.
Sister Cecil was born in Sugar Creek, Iowa and was baptized Helena at St. Joseph's Church in Preston.
Sister Cecil entered Mount St. Francis in 1916 and was received on June 14, 1917, given the name Sister Mary Cecil. She made her final profession on June 22, 1922 and spent the next 45 years teaching. Among her assignments were Danbury, Mapleton, New Hampton, St. Mary's and Holy Ghost in Dubuque; and Midlothian, Illinois.
Due to failing health, Sister Cecil moved to Holy Family Hall in 1988 where she accepted her sufferings and limitations with the same sweet smile and disposition that had characterized her throughout life.
