Sister Carmelita Wisher was born November 16, 1891 and departed this life December 25, 1975.
Elizabeth Wisher entered Mount St. Francis November 24, 1906. On June 6, 1907 she received the habit and the name Sister Carmelita, and on July 31, 1909 she made her first profession.
Sister Carmelita taught in all grades and was often organist during her nearly sixty years on mission, serving at LaMotte; St. Mary's and Sacred Heart, Dubuque; Hospers; Otter Creek; St. Benedict; St. Mary's Cascade; Corpus Christi, Chicago; and Ossian. In 1967 she retired to Immaculate Conception Convent, and in 1974 to Holy Family Hall.
Ill with terminal cancer for several years, Sister Carmelita suffered in good humor and acceptance. "It was so easy to take care of her; she never complained," said a Holy Family Hall nurse.
