Sr. Martha Trumm

Sister Martha Trumm was born December 5, 1917 and departed this life May 7, 1997 in the 60th year of her Religious life.

Sister Martha suffered most of her life with a physically weak heart but a most generous one.

Marcella Trumm was born in 1917.  Marcella entered Mount St. Francis on August 25, 1936 and was received with the name Sister Martha in 1937.  She professed perpetual vows in 1942.

For almost 35 years Sister Martha taught primary and kindergarten children in the Iowa schools of Temple Hill, Remsen, St. Mary's and Holy Ghost in Dubuque, Leeds and Webster City; and Midlothian and Niles, Illinois.  In 1974 she went to St. Benedict's in Avon, Minnesota as the first director of religious education for the parish.

In 1994 Sister Martha came to Holy Family Hall where, despite her weakened condition, she continued her ministry to the frail and elderly there.
