Albon John - Class Of 1982

Alban Gary John, Sr., age 50, of Ft. Duchesne, passed away Oct. 17, 2014, in a hospital in Casper, Wyo., from complications of kidney failure.

He was born Feb. 3, 1964, in Roosevelt, to Albert Kee and Ramona Wyasket John. He married Shirley Murray, and they later divorced. He married Ann Barton, and they later divorced. He married Tammy Jenks, and they later divorced. He married Anita Lee Graham.

Alban played football and wrestled in high school. He continued to play softball and basketball throughout his life. He was a mechanic and a worker in the oil field. He enjoyed bowling, gambling, hunting, fishing, camping, beading, drawing, watching UFC Wrestling with his boys, and traveling with his uncle, William Wyasket. He was a member of the Native American Church and was a Sundancer. He always helped his family and those in need.

Alban is survived by his children, Joey Murray (Beheda Nakai), Ft. Duchesne; Alban (Cherlynn) John, Jr., Vernal; Robert (April) Giles, Salt Lake City; Ashley (Anthony) Tauaalo, Roosevelt; Elijah Gary (Shawnsheen) John, Roosevelt; Trevor (Estelle) John, Randlett; Latosha John, Vernal; Ian John, Randlett; step-daughters, Kirstyn Cota, Jessica Cota, 14 grandchildren; brothers and sister, Linda (Hipolito) Artica, Bridgeland; Harlow (Nora) John, Lehi; Lynn (Rene) John, Colorado Springs; Alonzo (Felita) John, Randlett; uncle William Wyasket, and aunt Levate Nez, Roosevelt.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, a sister, Bertha John; parents Albert and Ramona; nephews, Luís Peña, Brian Appawoo, Cedric Fightingbear; grandmother, Winnifred Wyasket; brothers, Lorenzo and Martin John; and brothers-in-law, Ronnie Appawoo and Humberto Peña.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Oct. 25 at the Ft. Duchesne Gym. There was a viewing on Friday after which he was taken to Linda Artica’s home in Bridgeland for a wake.
