Well, it took 10 years, but I managed to cut the ties and leave Dunmore in 1998. After graduating from Marywood I did a 2 year stint at our beloved alma mater teaching chorus and general music (nothing as cool or as weird as partying with people like Scappy, Bill Ross, Wammer, Mr. Polizzi, Jerry Cavanaugh and our favorite band teacher, Wayne Smith - who, by the way, taught me to golf!).
I lived and taught for a year in Carlisle, Pa (very cool, historic town) then moved to Middletown, NY to take another teaching job. And yes... I'm still a band dork, only now I get paid to be a band dork, and I absolutely love doing it! :)
I'm also busy working/performing at The Corner Stage Blues Club in Middletown where I sing regularly with the house band(the Mike Quick Band - you should check them out on myspace music!). They'll be opening for the Allman Brothers Aug. 12, and how cool, they've invited me to perform with them that night! I also do a schmoozy vocal jazz gig regularly at the club once a month (come on, who doesn't like Sinatra?).
Things aren't all dark and bluesy though, I also have a church music gig, and have started down the road to becoming the crazy cat lady! I have two, and yes, I do call them my babies, in lieu of any children! (Anybody wanna see pictures of my cats? :)
I do manage to visit Dunmore pretty regularly... I still come back to visit family, go to Michelle Verrastro's hair salon and to go to the dentist! I guess everything isn't greener on the other side of the fence! See Y'all at the reunion!
