Dear Classmates,
Happy New Year to all of you. The New Year started off with a chile cookoff in Colorado Springs with the Montoya relatives on m y dad's side of the family. My regular job is going well. In addition, I've been working at a yoga studio not far from downtown Denver. I like the work and I have been enjoying the yoga practice.
This time last year I was getting ready to travel to India for the third time. I'm hoping to return to India again sometime this year. I have found the Indian subcontinent an incredible place to explore, both spiritually and geographically. India is very affordable and the government allows travelers to export up to a certain amount of merchandise.
My Quaker parrot Kiwi is turning 18 in two months. She hasn't layed any eggs for two years and perhaps she's going through a change in her life.
I was in Durango for Thanksgiving in November. It was nice to see both my parents, one of my brothers, and two of my sisters. Family seems to take on a deeper meaning as I get older.
I still belong to the Denver Film Society and I am on a board of directors for the Colorado Society of Hispanic Genealogy. I love staying active in the city. Denver has so much to offer. Some of my favorite hiking places are in Boulder but there's no place like Durango, a fact that I am reminded of every time I visit my family still living there.
I enjoy making fruit preserves and I also enjoy cooking, reading, keeping up with friends, and making new friends.
I hope, trust, and pray that 2011 will be a good year for all of us.
