Hey Mordecai: Happy birthday! Trust you're enjoying life in Santa Rosa. All the best: Larry
Jonathan and I were at DPHS and DHS together. We became good friends. I was always intrigued by Jonnie's family story, and he was somewhat "exotic" because of his accent. I was very sad to hear of his passing and having lost contact with him after leaving school, I was very impressed to learn of his amazing work through the years. With condolences to the family, I would like to end with this epithet from my faith (Jewish), which seems very apt for Jonnie: "May his memory be for a blessing" - Larry Butchins, Israel.
I remember Gordon as a big, quiet smiling guy, with a topping of rusty blond hair. He was always quiet and well-meaning. Condolences to his family and friends

I was terribly upset ot learn of Mervyn's passing - Yes Jeff, "Gilly" Gans as he was known to all of us at Prep and DHS. I was in contact with Mervyn again in recent years when he introduced me to Francesco Ciaghi, who had cycled solo from Cape Town to Italy via Israel. Frncesco was particularly fond of Mervyn and admired him as a cycliing enthusiast with grit and tenancity in the face of his illness. I remember Mervyn as quiet, almost retiring in his manner, very gentle, pensive. Although we had not seen each other (except via Facebook) for more than 40 years, I remembered him and his sister Sharon, fondly from school days.
Sending love and healing thoughts to the family.

Oh wow: I knew he was ill, but did not know it had moved so quickly. I knew Andy (and his brother Stuart) from when they first arrived in Durban from SWA and went to Prep. We had correspnded quite regularly on FB and I was intrigued with his passion for Scotland and his heritage. Rest in Peace buddy...condolences to all the family.

Hey guys: It's been a while and I was prompted by a nudge from Cedric to update my profile and keep in touch. Here goes: For those of you who read my book, "Train in the Distance" https://www.amazon.com/dp/171890276X, things are moving in a very interesting direction: I have teamed up with a producer/developer in Denver Colorado, to develop the book into a TV series or movie. This is incredibly exciting, and we've already had some positive feedback from industry people to take it further. As of now, the project is termed: "a series in development..." and we are actively contacting industry people, investors, directors etc to interest them in getting involved.
Further to that, I have started a podcast which you can listen to at: http://trainindistance.buzzsprout.com I have three episodes out so far and it brings more in-depth information about the book, the characters, the plot....and I've included some Township Jazz as an added bonus. This musical genre is so exciting and vibrant and conveys the atmosphere of South Africa in the 60s and 70s. Take a listen and let me know what you think. Cheers for now.

Cannot find where to change Residential details. Anybody?
I was friends with Derrick at school, and even then he had some mental health issues. Sad in any event.
