Comments:

I am currently retired. I worked in the educational field as a teacher and school counselor. I have also taught classes at the junior college level.

I am currently involved with the Emma L. Wilson-King Foundation. This organization is very close to my heart. It was organized in honor of our mother. We are focusing on raising funds to restore the historical fountain in East St. Louis, Jones Park. We have awarded over 300 scholarships to high school seniors and donated more than 300 new winter coats to elementary school children. I am very proud of the fact that we are giving back to young people and the city of East St. Louis. Please visit our website at www.EmmaLKingFoundation.Org

I am a proud member of Rainbow Push, Rev. Jessie Jackson, The Black Star Project, Phillip Jackson, and VFW Post 311 auxiliary. We have taken water to the people in Flint, Michigan several times. I have also been involved in tutoring programs teaching young and older people how to read.

School Story:

I really enjoyed high school. I was involved in many organizations that kept me busy. I was selected to represent Lincoln High at a Y-Teen conference at Bradly University in Peoria during the summer of 1962. This was exciting as well as educational for me. I met and participated in workshops with so many young girls from across the state of Illinois.

I was also a member of the Chess Club, Future Nurses, Civics Club, Spanish Club, Booster, and Cheerleader Squad during my high school days.

We had so much fun traveling to Tennessee during the football season to play Hamilton High School. I remember meeting singers Dee Dee Sharp and Chubby Checker . It was also very exciting staying on the college campus of Tennessee State University, and cheering at the football games. I don't remember ever losing the football games to Hamilton High. Fun, fun, fun, and exciting!!!!
