James Butler

EASTON James C. Butler, 84 formerly of Easton, died Monday, December 12, 2022 at Bethlehem Manor. Born August 29, 1938 in Easton, he was a son of the late Marjorie (Harding) and Chester C. Butler. He was a 1956 graduate of Easton High School and attended Gettysburg College. Jim retired from American General Life Insurance and then worked security for the Easton School District for 20 years. He was a longtime Easton area youth coach, coaching multiple sports and was a Basketball Official on the High School and Collegiate levels for 52 years. He also held numerous Board positions in the Easton Chapter of Basketball Officials and loved to golf. He is survived by his children: Kimberly Dudrich (husband Paul) of Archbald, PA, James C. Butler, II (wife Cheryl) of Catasauqua, PA; 4 grandchildren: Korie Munley (Eugene), Sarah Wilson (David), Brett Butler (Dana), Brittany Butler; and 2 great-grandchildren: Graham and Blair Butler. His wife, Antoinette Butler, died earlier. Services are 10:30 AM Friday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton, PA with visitation 9:30 to 10:30 AM. Jim was my friend. Though I knew life would take us down different paths, being his friend was significant to me. I didn't know exactly why then, but over the past 80 plus years I can say I never met anyone like him. Jimmy was truely unique: friendly, gregarious, trusting;  made you feel comfortable in any conversation. You couldn't help like being around him. Until we meet again...rest well my friend.
