High points of your life since high school?

After high school, I attended UW-EC for a couple of years and then transferred down to UW-Madison and finished up my undergraduate degree in Nuclear Engineering and Engineering Physics in 1994.

I decided to stay at the UW for my graduate school after they gave me a Bascom Hill Fellowship and continued by research in developing new mathematical constructs to solve the Boltzmann equation using time-dependent methods.

I finished up my PhD at the University of Wisconsin - Madison in the summer of 1999 in Nuclear Engineering and then within one month got married to my lovely wife Tiffany O'Bryan Olson (North Class of '96) and started my career at the MIT-Lincoln Laboratory.

At MIT/LL I was a member of the USAF red team performing defense related research and systems analysis on weapon systems for the rapid capabilities office (AF/RCO and SAF/AQL). While working for MIT/LL one of my highlights was flying the B-2 flight simulator over Eau Claire (if pressed I will tell the rest of the story at the reunion).

I remained at MIT until 2007 all the while moving several times in the state of Massachusetts and acquiring a new member of the Olson clan in 2005 (Kathryn Marie).

I decided leave MIT and take a similar position at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics laboratory in 2007 and in the process of selling the house and moving down found out that my wife was pregnant with twins. After many complications, we were blessed with our Olson twins (Abby and Emma) in April of 2008.

I am currently the lead simulation engineer for the USN JATO (Jamming Technique Optimization) organization in support of EA-18G and EA-6B operations in addition to leading the APL red team in support of OSD-CAPE.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

In the few minutes of spare time I often run along of the South Branch of the Patapsco river which runs below our house.
