Jim was a close friend of mine. We both liked skiing, fishing, and other outdoor activities. We spent some weekends at his family's second home on Cross Lake in northern Minnesota. I still remember that awful phone call from my father, when I was a student at St. Olaf, about his death in a car crash coming back from UD. He left a grieving father, mother, and older sister. Most all of us want a full life, but not all of us are lucky enough to get one.
