John and I began a life long friendship at Concord grade school when Schwinn bikes were our primary mode of transportation. Later, we discovered beer, girls, Danceland (Beach Boys, etc.) together. Then came the brave new world college at the U. of M. Later, with masterful people skills and humor to match any stand up comedian, John naturally rose to the top of his profession as a manufacturers representative. He founded King Sales in Minneapolis, where he excelled, and enjoyed great success until his retirement. John's lovely wife Sally King was by his side for nearly five decades, and together, they parented three wonderful daughters and a virtual dynasty with 12 grandchildren. Back in the 50's when Schwinn bikes were our "wheels", we thought that 21 was the age of enlightenment and 30 was old age. How that time-line changes...in retrospect. My dear friend John left me and so many others with almost 70 years of memories of him, to be treasured forever. He will always be with me. Grant Hall
