I was so saddened to hear about Julie’s passing!!  I knew she was ill, but it still comes as a shock.  Prayers to her family.  R.I.P. Julie.  You will be missed.

Julie was a phenomenal student at EHS.  She was in Latin for at least 4 years and earned a scholarship to Carlton.  She traveled to Peru and met her husband in Lima.  I got to know her again as an adult in the 80's. She tutored the children of a friend from Stanford who became a Professor at U of M and bought a home in Edina near hers. She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer about 6 months before our 50th reunion. She had amazing strength to live for 1 1/2 years more.  This type of cancer is voracious.  I hope her children will always remember her strength and kindness and tell her grandchildren how wonderful she was.

I remember Julie back as far as junior high.  She was smart and kind and took interest in what you had to say.  Great memory too.  When we got together for the 50th, she remembered standing in the lunch line telling jokes back in junior high.  I took a couple years of Latin and remember her from Latin Club.  She really fought hard against her cancer.  I feel very sad she is gone.

I've known Julie since the 5th grade at Highlands school.  Julie was a very bright girl, with focus on academics and me, well sports.  That's why I was particularly devasted when she beat me in leg wrestling in 5th grade gym class.  I have been communicating with her on facebook for over a year and well aware of her health struggles.  I saw her at the reunion and told her how she had damaged my ego in the 5th grade to which she got a good laugh.  She was a very kind person who loved her family, in particular her grandchildren.  She will be missed.

I never knew Julie personally(my loss), but I knew who she was.  A very bright and genuinely nice person.

I hope she is in that proverbial ‘better place’ along w/ my dear friend, Judy Northrup(EHS ‘67) who died in May from ALS.

~RIP~
