Ann arrived in Edina High School in 1962, and I first remember her as being someone who sat across from me in math class. (Remember those times when we were assigned a place the first day of school and remained there until the last day?!) It took only a few days to become good friends with her. A strong, independent individual, Ann could think for herself yet also think of and care for others. Maybe class members who took art classes would have known her best because she was a creative person and used her skilled hands and artistic mind to make a beautiful setting wherever she was. I admired her for taking on a part time job in the evenings, at a new place in town called "Target". I remember driving to Target one evening so I could talk with her during her break, and I confided in her about a deep hurt in my life. Ann was someone to turn to and trust and respect. Although our lives took different directions after high school, I am forever grateful for her and her true friendship.
