Luigia died of ovarian cancer a few years after high school. She had a tough battle and I visited her once in the hospital and heard later she was in remission. I saw her once more at a U of A dance and later learned she passed on a few months later. She was a kind soul.
Al, thank you for the kind words. Luigia passed away Feb 5, 1982 at the Cross. It was very cold and snowy the day she passed away. Growing up as first cousins I have many fond memories of Luigia. We spent allot of time together. Later in life we grew apart but I was so fortunate to reconnect with her after high school. I'm glad we did. I think of Luigia often now that I have two daughters of my own. She was a good person with great potential. You try to find a meaning in a loved one's death but there was none with Luigia's. She was too young with too much potential to leave so early. Luigia’s Mom and Dad and two sister still live in Edmonton.
