Gloria,

You know, the reunion won't be the same without you. We all need to get together and laugh it up like we used to. Hope you change your mind. About the weight gain, if I remember correctly you could stand to put on a few pounds anyhow. We'll send an entire bus to pick you up if need be. Besides there is always gastric bypass surgery. We are just in time for you to have the procedure and recover in time to make it for the party.

Hey, do you all remember the spirit chant we would yell whenever we played against Bowie? "We speak English, yes we do; we speak English, how 'bout you." and the ever famous "Go Bears" chant that their testosterone filled cheerleaders would yell.

Congratulations to Melissa Ramirez Torres, Jose Santos, Ray Lombrana, and Andrew Imai. You all signed up for the reunion in the time I asked you to and I owe u ten Bucks. Please email me your home address so i can fulfill my promise. As promised, I will match the amount in a donation to the reunion. Maribel, would you mind emailing me your address so I can send u a check.

So I am curious. I would die without Melissa Neumann. How many of you still have your best friend from high school? How many classmates married classmates. And how many are still married to them today. And as long as we are being honest...Why didn't you attend the ten year reunion? I didn't attend last time because I had just given birth.
Gloria, There is no way u are fat and if you are so what?
R u still a runner? OMG i was so jealous of how fast u ran. The only running I do now is to the fridge LOL. For all you English majors, I know i have no regard for punctuation. you get to an age where you say....Who the heck cares? Thats a good topic of conversation....What was the end of the world for you in HS that you could care less about now? For Me... Fitting in with the in crowd.

Congratulations to all the mommies and daddies from the class of 88. Your children are beautiful just like you.

Victor Nunez: It was great to see your pics...you haven't changed. Please send your sister Christina a hello for me.

Adriana: You're sweet for suggesting the bus but a crane will do nicely thank you.J/K Who knows maybe between now and then something will change and I 'll be able to go the reunion and knock off like old times with you guys. I do remember the Bowie Bears cheerleaders chanting, "GO BEARS, GO BEARS, GO, GO, GO BEARS. Too Funny!

Ok, to answer Becky’s question… I personally never married a classmate : )

As for what seemed like the end of the world in HS… that is a good question and it seems that I get to relive that drama time through my 13 year old daughter right now. My mother likes to remind me where Amanda got her drama flare (yep, yours truly)!

I think that like many of us, in High School EVERYTHING that had even a glimmer of an emotional result seemed like the end of the world. I attended 4 high schools, so “fitting in” was never something I was too concerned with… In HS it was not easy for me to see past that week less alone 20 years down the road. So I guess I will answer Becky’s question with the things I have learned and what I hope to pass on to my dramatic sweet 13 year old right now:

1. Money is not the answer to happiness

2. Know who you are… REALLY know

3. Know that you are blessed to have one true friend that can see you past 20 years

4. Looks fade; spirit does not

5. Find something that you are passionate about and put your heart and soul into it fully

6. Don’t judge ANYONE!!! We can never know what someone is going though inside

7. Love yourself first… makes you better at loving everyone else

8. Surround yourself with people from ALL walks of life you might learn something about them and yourself

9. Don’t beat yourself up when you mess up @ any of the above, just start again

Ok there is my philosophical answer to what mattered in HS that has changed now… Like I tell my daughter, life is still hard now it is just that after 20 years of experience we are better equipped to play the game : )

P.S.- I love you too Becky!

I will lend Melissa #10---- About life in general.Just when you think you know everything....you don't know a damn thing. We never stop growing.

Melissa thanks for sharing your words of wisdom, they sound like thoughts of a woman who has been challenged with motherhood, family and life!! My daughter is only 5 years old but she challenges me daily, so I hope when she is 13 and entering those teenage years I can pass on some of those pearls of wisdom. As for best friends, Mine has been Evelyn Marquez since elementary (Hughey). We've been through it all and we are closer than ever. She is my dearest friend, the one I can share anything with. The one I know I'll end up growing old with, besides my wonderful husband. She's my sister and I just love her!! As far as my biggest hang up in high school, boy drama of course!! Becky you are very good about these thought provoking questions, you should submit ideas for our next poll question!!

All in El Paso, hope to see you all for a pre if at all possible. We will be there starting next Sunday the 29th through the 4th. I hope to catch up with as many as can be. Patsy, I can attest to you and Evelyn (who is being a little to quiet, I may add). What about Veronica?? Do you keep in touch with her? Do you remember Mrs Collins at Hughey?? You are right about the hang ups if any. Opposite sex hang drama is about the only thing I regret. Again...Chris, Rene, Patsy, ALL!! Hope to see you all in the coming week, so much to cover!!!

Joe:

Seems to me you'll have a lot of catching up to do with your family when you get here. Why don't you come up with a day/time/place. I'm pretty much open.

Hey guys……….I have been some what quite….I have been entertained with this message forum though…

Jose, wow, it has been 20yrs too long…glad to know that you made it home safely. I will be in EP on the 4th…I arrive on the 3rd. Perhaps we can have lunch/dinner before you return? Is anyone up on meeting on the 3rd???

Patsy, amen sister…I can’t believe that we have been best friends for over 30 years…I am feeling old. Thanks for sticking by me, we have been through so much, and I know that I would have not made it without you…some rough patches in my life I have had! …you have been the sister I never had, and like always I am blessed to have a friend like you.

Melissa, great list…we are definitely getting wiser as we get older…never believed it when I was in HS, but now…I really understand it…Money is not the answer to happiness, I have learned that as well, and Faith in God keeps you going…
By the way, you and Becky look great! What is your secret??

Gee, I was really hoping you would attend the reunion…Can we all change your mind??? I got a cheer for you “WE GOT SPIRIT, YES WE DO, WE GOT SPIRT, and HOW ABOUT YOU?” Shoot, I am surprised I remembered that cheer! Ha! Old age!! Geese, Gee…I remember your speed around the track…I remembered I tried hard to keep up with you and didn’t do a good job…man your were quick….

All……. “Live each day to the fullest…we never know when it will be the last” I try my best….

Thanks Ev, I feel the love!!

Lisa, Angel just wanted to throw this idea out there, if it's kinda overwhelming to have a party at your home. Why not organize a get together at a local hangout, where we can all meet and mingle for a few hours.

Any thoughts about it?? Let's make some plans, the 3rd of July, which is a Thursday sounds good to me. Aceitunas, Smokey's, crawdaddy's, O2 lounge, what sounds good???

06/25/08 08:11 PM #345

Dan Pedroza

Wow, Aceitunas. That was one of my favorite places to hang out. Outdoor patio and beer with olives. whodathunk?

My Secret???? A Deal with the devil. Just kidding!!!!!!lol
My secret is Humor. I have been told I make people laugh. Life is Funny. I really think God has a sense of humor.
So are the people who I owe ever gonna write to me?
I wish everyone would post pictures. From what I have seen everyone has gotten better with age. If anything we all lost that "DUH!" WHAA" look we all had in high school. I don't have any pics of me in HS. I could never afford film. And when I did, I could never afford to develop the pics. LOL. And now that there is digital, My pics never make it off my computer.

GEE, what will it take GEE?????? We need you here, Grace had us cracking up at the 10th and I need more laughs this year. Let me know.

Ladies and Gents. Just for kicks. How about you style your hair 80's style for a picture and post it on the site? My daughter says, no one will have the guts to do this. Break out the piks and the the Aquanet. Obviously I have too much time on my hands. In Laredo, we are hard up for entertainment.

The 3rd sounds like a plan!!! Where?? I had only gone to Aceitunas once many moons ago and it was a nice vibe there. Crawdaddy's?? Anyhoo, consensus folks!! Sexote!!
