We understand your issues with the date. We ourselves brought up the same issues during our meeting and conference calls.

Our first choice was July-early August. But, Ardovino's was booked already. Other places were also booked or a bit pricey. Plus, as a committee we were all leaning towards Ardovino's quite a bit. It is owned by a fellow classmate- it was a meeting location during our 10-year Reunion meetings, and it has really grown. Back then Jennifer and her husband told us of their hopes for the place and it is really exciting to see those thoughts come to life. Add on giving us a break of not forking over a huge Deposit...nice.

July-early August was gone, so the next best thing was a 4-day weekend. Ardovino's was available and so we were penciled in. We were still looking at other options. When someone else was ready to pen in the date for Ardovino's (Deposit in hand); Jennifer asked us what we wanted to do. With no other option standing out, we decided to pen in the date (IOU a deposit in hand).

We really hope everyone can make it. We are continuing to search out more classmates, only 50 have responded to the website. But we are still searching. We can really use everyone's help on this.

We welcome your suggestions, but we have already made commitments, put down deposits and need to move forward. So the date stands. We hope you can understand and still be able to make it to the Reunion.

Admittedly we got together late. It was a process of three phone calls, hey are you organizing a Reunion? No but I think so and so is. Are you organizing a Reunion? No I thought you were. Ohhhh, we need to start organizing a Reunion.

But hey, while on the subject, we all need to stay in touch through this website as long as Class Creators' servers hold up. We also need to expand our Reunion Committee for future Reunions. The current committee can work on a sign up and maybe the class can elect new Reunion heads at the Reunion and with the help of previous committee members we work together to organize the next Reunion. Hey, we are only five years away from a 25-year Reunion, with a definite aim for summer.

Now back to our current 20-year Reunion.

Despite it not being in the summer and getting together late to organize it, I am really excited about our Plans.

I hear The Blue Iguana is really nice and modern looking. The owners are eager to work with us.

Poki Roni sounds really cool. All my time in El Paso, I never heard of it. I am really anxious to go and take Saraya, it sounds like she is really going to enjoy it.

I am also looking forward to Ardovino's, Pat says she's been there quite a few times for company parties, the food is awesome. When I was working at KDBC their chef would go on our Noon Newscasts and cook up some nice dishes. We are working on bringing in a photographer for class and individual pictures. Plus Pat keeps raving about the band we have reserved, 202.

So I am really excited. I think it's going to be fun. And it's a 4-day weekend, so I get to spend a day with my family and maybe hit up the St. Anthony's Labor Day bizarre or something.

So I'm looking forward to 20-year Reunion. See you there!

Guys, (committee members) Thanks for putting all the effort in doing this. I can only say, it's awesome that we're all getting together... I will scour Linked In, MySpace, Pulse and Facebook, to see if I can find any stragglers out there...

PS - Is everyone donating to the cause? How much are you looking for or what would be a good donation without obviously saying "how much you got?" LOL

Melissa Mendez (Thompson)

Thanks for the information... We all appreciate the work that has gone into this. I am sure that there is not one block of time that would work for everyone so we will all make the best of it... Looking forward to the event!

Donations-How much will it be per person/couple. Those answers are coming soon. Our Treasurer, Marible, has set up a bank account for us and everything should be or already is finallized.

Tomorrow the committee has a conference call meeting to discuss each of our assigned duties. Cost is one of them.

We will soon post the cost of the Reunion and you will be able to pay for the Reunion through this website or send a check.

Thanks everyone for understanding. You all are AWESOME!

WOW...HAVENT PLAYED WITH RIK IN YEARS...IT WOULD BE CRAZY...

HEY PAT...WHAT KIND OF MUSIC IS THE BAND GOING TO BE PLAYING?

04/19/08 01:32 PM #60

Patricia Imai (Villegas)

The name of the band is 202 and they can pretty much play anything, but of course what I've enjoyed most when I've heard them is their 80's music. They also play Mexican music eg: Mana and country. Nice picture of your band with Rik, you guys had more hair in those pictures than all us girls in the 80's!!

04/21/08 10:51 PM #61

Alma Fuentes

Hey Adriana, OMG do I remember those crazy days with Charlie driving us around. Too funny! Hey Chris, I went to the AVP Dallas Open this past weekend, brought back a lot of fun volleyball memories.
Hope every one of you are doing well - can't wait to see the class of 88.
PLEASE Rik and Toby - you have to play! But you have to break out the skinny ties, Vans, and severe hair gel.
Thanks to the Reunion crew for putting this together!

Chris, Alma and Edna we should organize some games for family day. OMG I just remembered getting mugged on graduation night coming back from J-town...........by a bunch of 12 year olds. It didn't faze me, I still went partying at the Hilton.

Hello Everyone! Just catching up on the message forum. Ya'll are crazy, good to see the sense of humors haven't changed. I am looking forward to going to the 20 year reunion since I missed the 10 year.
I would like to offer any assistance with contacting classmates ...etc. Committee members let me know. Great job setting this up and I agree with Edna regarding the 25 year reunion. Its not that far off, we'll just plan earlier next time.
And for work I have traveled to Austin, Dallas and San Antonio lots. I wish I had known some of ya'll were out there, I would have asked for a tour guide (party buddy).
** Great to see you all out there...

ADRIANA,

THATS FUNNY THAT YOU MENTIONED GETTING MUGGED...I TOO WAS MUGGED CROSSING OVER BACK TO EL PASO FROM JUAREZ.. BY 5 KIDS WHO WERE PROBABLE 7 YRS OLD...LOL
THEM LITTLE PUNKS...LOL

04/23/08 11:39 AM #68

Mario Loya

I'm starting to think Juarez could have been dangerous with all of this mugging talk. Contrary to popular belief, it was actually safer to drive (correction - be driven) than to walk across. Those brave enough to drive and kind enough to take me with them were as follows:

John Alvarez in the hell-raising van that was always playing Van Halen. However, the dash needed the occassional bang with a fist to get the tape player going again.

Chuck Stone in the gray Dodge Caravan which was blasting Pink Floyd, which he dubbed "reality cruises".

Eddie Escudero in his Volkswagen Rabbit Truck, apparently less than 100 ever made. That's probably why it was stolen.

Richard Coronado and his Berlinetta. Whatever Coronado was playing in his car was too damn loud, beacause his stereo cost more than his car.

04/23/08 12:43 PM #69

he was playing klf and cause and effect...

JUST CURIOUS, IS THERE STILL A CHICO'S TACOS ON MCRAE? IT'S BEEN LIKE 10YRS SINCE I'VE HAD SOME....WOW...CAN'T FIND A PLACE LIKE THAT HERE IN AUSTIN....

MARTY

Martin, the Chicos on McRae closed down the Ysleta School district found out that they own that land as well and took over I think to make extra parking for their employees. They just built one on Zaragoza to replace the one on McRae and there is a new one also on Montwood way out past George Dietre. The one on Montana had an accidental fire a few months back and was closed for about a month and reopened with the quickness. Guys it is still packed near closing with all the drunks trying to get the eat on. LOL

martin,

there is chukos tacos here and it is on 10th street...it is not as good but as close as we are going to get here in austin...they serve beer...that helps...the buritos are not the same either...

Just for giggles, I've uploaded a few more pics from 20 years ago. Wow, i can't believe I still have some of these pictures.

I too posted some pictures of way back when... I'll try to dig up some more. I was going through my yearbook last night and my kids kept on saying boy those girls have big hair.

I just logged on to the "in memory" page and I couldn't believe it... Matt Rodriguez passed away last year, I didn't know. In fact, just yesterday I was looking for one of my favorite prom pictures from senior year James and I went with Matt and a bunch of other people and had a blast. I just saw this posting and am blown away.
