My idea of a perfect reunion would be a Mexican Dinner on Thursday, the homecoming game on Friday, CW dancing on Saturday and a picnic in the park on Sunday. Howard could stroll around playing the violin and everyone bring their own spam sandwich and Dr. Pepper.

It all sounds good, except the spam sandwich!

Howard,
I'll let you know just as soon as I know. I think it will be at homecoming.

I see you are updating the site for a 45-year reunion. I'll chime in with my suggestions:

1) Dinner Thursday night at a steak restaurant. Maybe gather later for a memorial service for those who didn't make it.
2) I don't much care about football, but I know others do, so it should probably be held around Homecoming. Weather that time of year is a crapshoot, though.
3) Tour of the school on Saturday morning, maybe starting a little earlier. It's a good tradition. Lunch at a local Mexican restaurant. Afternoon ad lib.
4) Saturday Dinner. The one we had for the 40yr was pretty good, but you might want to check out the sound system beforehand next time. I'm indifferent about having a dance; my wife and I are not dancers.

Has anybody thought about having a 50 yr. reunion, which will be comming up in about 2 years?  If it gets started now therre will be roughly a 18 month stretch in we we can tryu and contact as many m,em,bers of the class as we can and try and get make them aware of the reunion> I'll do my best to make some phone calls and get them here for the reunion and I'm sure that if everybody takes a list of the names from the last directory dated 2007 we would probably get a majority of the class members notified.

I think the Class of 1969 should hold our 50th year reunion to coincide with the START of our 50th year rather than the completion of our 50th year, AND THE REASON is that this would allow us to join the Class of 1968 for their 50th year reunion.  (I believe they would welcome us.)

This will cut the work of preparing for the reunion almost in half, and it will allow us to double the number of people from our era who will be at the reunion; half from the Class of 1968 and half from the Class of 1969.

This would mean that the reunion would be in the summer of 2018 or the fall of 2018, probably October.

We had about 90 classmates (plus some spouses) at our 40th year reunion.  I anticipate that we will have a smaller number than that at our 50th year reunion regardless of whether we join the Class of 1968 or go it alone.

I would have no problem with holding a joint reunion, per se, with tthe class of '68 as we know a majority of the members of that class and more than likely haven't seen them since they graduated and we could teamk up with their reunion committee and share the expenses.  If we do decide to have a joint reunion I can check with the people at the Shrine Temple and make a reservation if I know how many people are coming and could possibly get a discounted cost.

I am not opposed to a joint reunion; I think it would be a nice touch. But this conversation would have a larger audience over in the google group Irvin-Alumni@googlegroups.com
