Bob was a friend as well as a classmate. He would visit me on occasion in Elmont, and we'd play songs on our guitars. I just learned of his passing, I'm terribly depressed. My blessings to his family.
I just read on th EMHS website of Rusty' passing, and am suprised I had not heard it from Kathie..
Rusty & I met in EMHS in 1957 when it first opened, we met @ the baseball fielfd and became life long friends...I cannot list all the fond memories I had with Rusty, from senior beach day in our senior year, to the summers in Sound Beach & to all the trips to racetracks all over Long Island, Pa, & upstate NY, but I will say I dont beleive Rusty had a bad bone in his body......Now he is with Joey D., Pete F., Jimmy M., & Danny S. also life long friends.....so rest in peace Rusty, we will meet again Godspeed my dear old friend....
After our 40th reunion in 2002 Judy & I reconnected with Bob & visited an event at Coney Island where Bob was demonstrating diving equipment. Judy & I spent a week dog sitting in Shoreham....close to where Bob lived in Sound Beach. Bob came by with a guitar & we jammed & had a great visit. Judy & I visited Bob & Kathy a number of times at their home. Bob was definitely an outdoorsman....I remember seeing his 1977 speedboat racing national championship plaque during those visits. Bob was an avid guitar collector. I owned a Fender Vibrolux Reverb guitar amp that I had shipped to Lincoln, NE in 1973.....fast forward 40 years.....I remember Bob coming to The Milleridge Inn while Judy & I were having lunch with Lillian & Murray Ehrlich (my favorite teacher). I went to the parking lot with Bob & loaded the amp in his truck. I was very fortunate to have spoken with Bob often during his last months. He was a great guy & wonderful friend....Judy &.I miss him dearly.
