Sorry to hear about Doug.  We lived on the same block and went to school together from kindergarten and Dwight Morrow.  We also were in the Boy Scouts Troop #22.  My condolences to his family.

Doug came up to me at one of our earlier reunions and thanked me for telling him in 7th grade that having his shirt buttoned up to the top wasn't "cool", and that since then,  he always left the top button unbuttoned.  l felt really appreciated with that thank-you - so thank you, Doug, for being such a nice and "cool" classmate.    John

Doug and I spent a lot of time together during our grade school and junior high years.  Always a pleasure to be around.  He was rather quiet, and always pleasant and considerate.  The world needs more like him.

I remember chatting with Doug at our 25th reunion. I'm not sure he remembered me, as we had few classes together, but he said he was then in Wash, DC and I asked him if I could guess his birthday. So I told him it was 3-13-39, and he said "how could you know that?". So I told him that he and I and Neil Sedaca were all born the same day. I also asked about his cousin, Cliff Knapp. Doug was a truly nice person, and I agree with the comments by Bob and John.

Perhaps Bob can tell me the name of a friend who lived on the same block as he and Doug, who let me park my motor scooter in his yard a few times when I rode it to school in junior year. He had a 125cc motorcycle that my Dad said no to me about buying it.

I treasure memories or our school days! I'm looking forward to next year's 60th reunion!

Bob
