I am an employment attorney, specializing in representing employees, particularly women and caregivers, in discrimination lawsuits. I've also been representing victims of sexual assault, particularly at work. I own my own firm, Pontikes Law, LLC, in downtown Boston, Massachusetts. Four years ago I hired a junior attorney, and now I'm thinking about the day I'll need to hire another one! (I still have a hard time seeing myself as an employer).
I got married to an astrophysicist in 2003 who works for the Smithsonian in Cambridge, Mass (not far from where we live). We are still living in the condo we bought when I last updated this section.
I've gotten a lot more politically active since the 2016 election. I testified in support of changing Massachusetts law to accommodate pregnant workers (no it wasn't required before we changed the law!), and I worked with the people who passed our pay equity law. It's now one of the strongest in the country. I'm currently working with people who want to put more rules on non disclosure agreements.
I'm also working more with non profits help workers who are trying to organize in ways that are different from a union.
I have a niece and nephew now (My sisters Rachael and Elizabeth, '92 and 94' respectively, had a boy, Joseph and a girl, Zoe Nora). My sister Rachael lives in Chicago, as do my folks. Elizabeth just moved to California to accept a job at UC Davis.
My husband is still at the Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. He does more management now, but he still flies to telescopes to do his observations. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone!
