Newmarket - David R. Barbin, 58, of Newmarket died Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at the Exeter Hospital after a sudden illness.
He was born January 1, 1957 in Exeter, NH the son of the late Rene A. and Rachael M. (Matava) Barbin.
David was raised in Exeter and was a graduate of Exeter High School Class of 1975. He enlisted in the US Army where he served until 1982.
He was a Police Officer for the Exeter Police Department for 21 years, and a graduate of the New Hampshire Police Academy, after retirement he worked for Al’s Automotive and Towing. He had also worked for Cheeza's Landscaping for several years.
He enjoyed working on small engines, hunting, and building fires in his woodstove.
He was a very devoted father to his son, Cody.
Family members include his son, Cody W. Barbin, his brothers, Dennis Barbin and his wife, Helen, Doug Barbin and his wife, Robin and Dana Barbin and his wife, Marianne, his former wife, Lisa Barbin, also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of his life was held Sunday January 3, 2016 from 1 - 4 PM at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter. Family flowers only. If desired, donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors or the Exeter Police Association.

It is with great sadness that the Exeter Police announce the sudden passing of retired officer Dave Barbin. Dave served with the department from October 14, 1980 until August 28, 2001. He was a lifetime resident of Exeter well known to many people. Dave held many roles with the police department serving as a firearms instructor, as a field training officer, and as the juvenile officer. Dave also served with the New Hampshire State Police for a number of years during his career as a Law Enforcement officer.
Dave was a mentor to many officers during his career with the department. Godspeed Dave you will be greatly missed by all. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Dave’s family during this difficult time.
