Alan Henry Simon, a resident of Garland, Maine, departed from this world on Friday, March 1, 2024, at the Northern Light Mayo Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine.
He was born on November 29, 1957, in Exeter, New Hampshire, the beloved son of William and Geneva (Brown) Simon.
Alan's journey through life was marked by dedication and passion. As a skilled machinist, he began his career with Amesbury Industries before venturing into entrepreneurship, founding his own trucking business, Simon & Simon Trucking, which thrived under his leadership until his retirement. Alan's craftsmanship was unmatched; his talent for carving and furniture building brought joy and beauty into the lives of those around him. He found solace and fulfillment in the act of creation, his hands bringing to life works of art that will be treasured for generations.
An adventurer at heart, Alan found his greatest peace in the embrace of nature. He reveled in outdoor activities, immersing himself in the tranquility of the wilderness and sharing unforgettable moments with loved ones. Throughout his life, Alan maintained a special bond with his cousins, Harvey and Daniel, a connection that brought him immense joy and comfort.
Alan leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. He will be deeply missed by his children, Heath Simon, Joseph Simon, and Jessica Camuso all of Rochester, NH, as well as his cherished grandchildren, Ross Simon, Shane Simon, Kaitlyn Simon, Alana Simon, Jack Simon, Mikaela Thistlewood, Aria Camuso, and Vivian Camuso all of Rochester, NH. His memory will also be cherished by his brother, William Simon of Merideth, NH; cousins, Harvey Wilbur and Daniel Wilbur, and a host of other cousins and extended family members.
The world has lost a remarkable soul, but Alan's spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew him. His kindness, creativity, and unwavering love for family and nature will continue to inspire and guide us.
As we bid farewell to Alan, may we find solace in the memories we shared and take comfort in knowing that his spirit will forever remain a guiding light in our lives.
A time of visitation was held for family and friends on Tuesday, March 12th, 2024 at the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home – Buckminster Chapel, 84 Broad Street, Portsmouth.
