I've been in residence in Guerneville for about 3 months now, though I'm not completely settled yet. My land line finally works -- 707-869-3578. Please try to reach me via that line before trying my cell phone. The most exciting thing that's happened to me since the move was that my trusty old 2000 Subaru Forester was stolen. The insurance payoff was more than the cost of the replacement -- a virtually identical Subaru, same color, a year older, with only half the mileage and utterly free of dents, dings, cracks, blemishes. I think it lived in a garage its entire life.

I had tentatively planned trips to Southern California and New England this Fall, but the move preempted all that. Perhaps the new year will be more conducive.

Just survived another medical adventure -- a bleeding esophageal ulcer with complications which kept me in hospital for 11 days. About 2 years ago, I had a bleeding duodenal ulcer. This was by far my longest stay in the hospital; my longest previous visits had been 5 or 6 days.

At any rate, I seem to have come through it OK and I'm recovering well, as I usually do. But I was very ill, and it was an ordeal, so I'm not nearly back to full strength. The bonus was losing nearly 20 pounds in less than 2 weeks.
