In Memory

Mike Lassley VIEW PROFILE

"Michael “Otis” Lassley, born Jan. 20, 1961, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Fairbury, NE, on June 15, 2013. He was surrounded by family and his two very special dogs, “his boys” Jake II and BJ.
His memory and spirit lives on in the hearts of his family: dad Max Lassley & wife Maryann; sisters Donna Crome and husband Earl and their daughter Jessica; Becky Reedy and husband Radar and their son Samuel; Tina Lassley and her fiancé Ryan Monroe and their son Connor; and 6 step children, two of which he had grown close to, Scott and Tyler Jones.
Mike was not always easy to get along with, but was easy to love. He had a biting wit and was the life of the party. He was a great storyteller and was fun to be with. He had many good friends, some dating back to a time BEFORE the mullet was in style – the first time. Mike proudly sported his own mullet until just the last few weeks. Michael lived large and loved with abandon, especially sho...rt, plump, large-breasted women with great smiles.
Born in Beatrice, Neb., he grew up and graduated high school in Fairbury, Neb. And lived briefly in Beatrice, Neb., Pickrell, Neb., Lake Havasu City, AZ, and finally settling again in Fairbury. He married and divorced three times. In Mike’s case, the third time was not a charm, and he remained a bona fide bachelor till the end of days. Of course, in true Michael fashion, he hit on his hospice nurse the day before he died.
Mike worked all his life, starting as an A&W carhop and ending, most recently, at Agrium where he was a team-leader until his “retirement” in January.
In his spare time, he enjoyed cooking & baking for his family, watching sports, fishing, golfing, playing pool, watching sports, playing cards, telling jokes and watching sports.
Mike will be dearly missed, but hopefully he is having a good time up there, somewhere, watching sports, catching up with his mom, Uncle Bill and other family members and friends, and especially his beloved dogs, Tyrone, Jake & Sonny, who beat him to the pearly gates.
While Mike liked flowers and plants as much as the next burly guy, he would rather have you donate generously to your local animal shelter in his memory.
A sharing of memories will be held on Sunday, June 23, 2013 at the Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home, 2414 H Street, Fairbury, NE 68352 at 3 p.m."
