School Story:
This is my Life After High School Story: Finished High School, and went to work for Thomas and Howard there in Fayetteville as an artist and ad maker for a couple of years. I then went to work for the WTVD, Channel 11 Sales Office as private secretary to the Sales Manager and News Anchor located there. Made a few commercials and had a good time learning the tv sales business. I was saving money so that I could marry Norman Elkins when he graduated from college. I married him in 1965. We lived in Fay. He was Vice President of Home Federal Savings and Loan Branch in Spring Lake, home office in Fay. until he was drafted in '67. We lived in Texas, Alabama, and Ohio while in the Air Force. Our son, Adam was born in 1969. We moved to Wilmington,NC, in 1970 and lived there until 1992. Norman worked for Xerox, sales, for about 10 years and I was busy involved in church, neighborhood, school, volunteer work and had a Custom Cake Decorating and Catering business out of my home. In 1992, Norman was by then working for National Health Labs, Sales Manager. Both of my parents died three weeks apart in May of '92. They both still lived in Fayetteville, Sam and Ella Parnell. Norman was transferred to Winston that same year. We'd been in the process of building a nice home on a 15 acre space off a golf course out in the country. It was/is beautiful. We three moved to the Winston area, late May, '92. It was hard after just loosing my parents. But the home was finished and it was time. Adam was going to Embry Riddle Aeronautical Univ. in Daytona Beach. He now flies as a Corporate Pilot for PPD out of Wilmington. NC. He is separated and lives in the Burgaw area, out in the country. Has his daughters over a lot. They and he want me to move to Wilmington area, I like Hampstead, by the first of the year. Lord willing, I will. Norman & I were separated in 1996 and divorced in 1998. After that, I was remarried briefly to a man I knew from the 60's, Glenn C. Bell, from Wilmington. I dated him off and on for about two years. Then we went our separate ways. I was contacted by him when my parents died...on two different occasions. I did not know, but he had been in touch with my parents over the years. His name and phone number was in my Mom's address book and someone contacted him when each of them died. He called me to give his regrets. When Norman and I separated we began to talk...he was divorced. He was a retired Army Captain, and had three more years until he retired from teaching High School in Colorado Springs. He was at that time working on his PhD. I married him in Feb. 1999, moved out to Calhan,CO, about 45 mins East of Colorado Springs where he taught..on 30 acres of High Plains. He died three months later, in May. I was devastated. He unknowingly had colon cancer that had already spread to his liver. Nothing could be done. I moved back to NC in Nov,'99. It was good to be back in NC. Norman and I are still friends. He has a 'friend' who is well to do as he is and they travel the world together. He has just had his left foot and part of his leg amputated because of a problem with blood clots. He has a family history. I helped look after him for two weeks until 'she' could come. She has homes at Lake Waccamaw and Myrtle Beach. Me, well, I had a 135 lb. Shiloh Shepard that came to my home out in CO just after Glenn died. I am convinced that the Lord sent him to me. I brought him back to NC with me, and he died in April, '08. He was 12. I miss him. Quite a friend, he was. I love animals, especially dogs. I love the simple things in life as I said. Still love blowing bubbles on a windy day, flying kites. I like laying and watching the clouds and making pictures, sun rises, sun sets, moon rises and star gazing, picnics, sitting by a fire after a nice home cooked meal, movies, dancing, walking, small home parties, entertaining. I love photography, sketching people, and drawing in general, writing poetry, baking, canning, picking fresh fruit for making jams, cooking, and people. I don't drink or smoke. I love to listen to others stories and I love being a friend. I love all of nature, the outdoors...anything outside. I love cool and cold weather (snow), thunder storms, and wind. But I love to lay in the sun in the summer to get tan, still. Fall is my 'favorite' season. I am just the same as I was in High School except I just look like a different person, Ha! Sounds like an ad for a singles thing...It isn't, just telling everyone 'who' I am...I am a motor mouth and love to laugh. If there's anyone out there who remembers me, I'd love to hear about YOU now !!
