Comments:
I majored in philosophy and in psychology at UNC-CH 1999-2003, followed by stints as a laboratory technician in a neuroanatomy lab and as a probate clerk in the Estates Division of the Raleigh courthouse.
While in college, I met Veronica my first year, marrying her in 2002 (you can see the wedding here: http://www.unc.edu/~franco/WeddingMovieSmall.mov). She earned a B.S. in biology 2001 and then a master's in genetics & molecular biology in 2004. After that we moved across the country to the San Francisco Bay Area (California) so she could enter a UC Berkeley PhD program in Environmental Science, Policy, and Management.
I worked as a hardware clerk for a year before entering the PhD program of the UC Davis Philosophy Department in 2005 (http://philosophy.ucdavis.edu/). I've earned my master's and am currently working on my dissertation.
I love teaching philosophy and I love my family. We plan to move back to the East coast when we earn our PhDs so we can visit our families by train, rather than plane. And just to add interest (why not?): I'm into composting.
