It's good to have reunions to reflect back through the years we shared as students and adults.  I regret that I haven't kept in contact with old high school friends until there is a chance of seeing them again.  I am so glad that Lois was at our last reunion.

Lois made her life very fulfilling.  Growing up with 3 brothers probably taught her to stand up for herself.  It's wonderful that after working as a nurse at the University Hospital she pursued her dream of becoming a physician.  She was also a very dedicated mom to Mark and Andy, and totally enjoyed a grandson and for a few months her  twin granddaughters.  In this small world, one of my dear friends is the twins' other grandmother.  She spent many afternoons with Lois and the twins and wants the girls to always remember Lois.  There are so many good people in this world, and I'm glad that I could enjoy Lois for many years.

Some of us were able to connect with Lois when she moved back to Minneapolis from Phoenix to be closer to her family - after she learned of her cancer.  We met at Pinky's a couple of times and I had lunch with her when she knew treatment wasn't working any more.  She was spending time with her boys - their wives and her precious grandbabies.  She was so smart and strong even when she was facing death.  She had enjoyed living and practicing medicine in AZ so much.  What a fine strong woman she was.

Lois was fun, adventurous & a great friend. One summer we canoed down the creek by her house. It took all day because we had to lift the canoe over so many branches across the water. If I remember correctly, she had some kids out to make ice cream one winter. We chopped ice from the river & took turns cranking the handle on the ice cream maker. We worked as nurse's aides & sometimes got to work in the snack shop making sandwiches & milkshakes. Once we got to see a baby being born thru the window of the operating room. I visited her in Arizona & Minneapolis after she got cancer. On one visit to Mpls. she & her brothers & son spent the afternoon discussing only sports & politics. She went to medical school when she was 39 & still managed to raise her sons. She was so proud of them & thrilled with her grandchildren.
