Gina, Actually Pacino's advice isn't too bad. Is he teething and it really starts to hurt at night? Maybe some tylenol or motrin to help smooth things over and a set routine, with a lovey that happens only at bedtime. I'm a believer in letting them cry it out, but I didn't have the puking on the sheets response, either. Best of luck with solving this problem.
Bill, glad you made it to NC ok, hope things go well for you there.

Gina, I'm also a let 'em cry it out kinda mom, but not if it results in puking, and of course as long as you know nothing is wrong. I know many wouldn't agree w/me, but TV right at bedtime was the trick for Dakota. MacKenna could care less. When that girl is tired, she just wants to go to bed and go to sleep. Kota is not so agreeable...imagine that. She is allowed to watch something she likes on TV for 1/2 hour at early bedtime and on nights where she's having trouble falling asleep, we find something family friendly but not cartoons or Hannah Montana for an extra 1/2 hour. She's usually out like a light w/in about the first 20 minutes. Beats them being in your room pecking on your forhead or sleeping w/you.

Hey what's up everyone? Haven't been on in a while, taking some classes to get my master's and its taking up all my time. Anyway, Graff you should of stayed to see the fall last Wednesday. Carrie is still on crutches, I feel sorry for her but it was hilarious.

Anyway that was the best b-day I've had in a long time.

Good luck Bill, hate to see you go. Keep in touch!

Is everyone planning on going out this Friday? or has plans changed?

Tracy Graff (Patterson)

Bec...wish I would have stayed a bit longer now. Poor Carrie. Glad you enjoyed your birfday...it was a good evening even w/our husbands along! ; ) Really, Butch had fun...thought Carrie and her hubby were quite entertaining. I was surprised Brian was such a participator...most I've heard him say in all my time knowing him. Fri is still on. Not sure of times. Cino is off work at 6pm and said he'd probably just meet us at squeakers. I thought maybe some of us locals could gather for dinner ahead of squeakers. You or Belinda interested? Grif said he and Packy and Peach (know flippin idea who Peach is) were coming together. Not sure of their plans yet.

So Gina. i have some definitely don't take me serious suggestion for a kid who wont sleep.

=if he's teething, you could always give him some sandpaper to chew on. if not sandpaper, then aluminum foil.

=if he's just being ornery, (i accidentally did this to maggie this evening while dressing her up for xmas concert. i bet it would work on a strong-willed child) -your could burn him with a curling iron.

have you tried bribery? a popsickle? take away his allowance and his keys to the car. haha.

ok, i should be in bed. i didn't mean the prior posts (=). they were a joke. don't try this at home. you will be called into children's services.

Thanks for the clue in on Peach Bill. How cold is it in NC? It's been pretty darn cold her since your departure. My Brownies are going to freeze tomorrow night in the Pevely Christmas Parade!

Happy Hump Day!!!

Gina Blow (Miller)

Happy B-day Hartman!

Thanks for all of the advice peeps. I can honestly say that I have tried it all; except for the whiskey, sandpaper/aluminum foil and curling iron. We do have a night time routine and he has worked great up until now. Seriously, it was like somebody flipped a switch and all of a sudden he was a maniac. He doesn't take a binkie, he gave that up @ 6 mos. I REALLY wish he would take a binkie at times, but he doesn't. I've tried differnt types of bed time clothes, thinking maybe he was too hot. We've done motrin, tylenol, hyland drops, baby orajel, cough/cold medicine. We are goint to the doctor today as a last ditch effort just to make sure the ears are ok; which I am pretty sure they are.

I will see everyone Friday night! I need a night out!

Belinda Allen (Mobley)

Tracy, I am taking off work to go shopping on Friday and I am not sure what time I will be back in town but if I am back early enough I would be interested in doing dinner with you. I will give you a call on Friday when I get back in town to see where things stand. See everyone on Friday! Oh except Bill & Shari-Sorry:)

12/03/08 04:46 PM #1668

Gina Blow (Miller)

Well, the doctor said my kid is just very strong willed. Lovely. At least I have peace of mind that he doesn't have an ear infection. I will keep being strong and consistent in my retraining and hopefully we will break this cycle soon!!!! Thanks again for all of the advise. I may be turning the the whiskey this evening for myself! Ha! Ohhhh....wait a minute! Brian has to put him to bed tonight b/c I have a Christmas dinner for the Missouri Healthcare Association! teeeheeee

Shari Polk (Boxdorfer)

i know this will mean absolutely nothing to any of you wonderful people, but i wanted to tell you that today i bought myself a pink shirt and puffy vest to match, and I Like It. I'm feeling girlie. come on ladies....pink is the new white...or black...or something.

Gina - glad you didn't try the burning or sanding. your strong willed young man takes after who>????

12/04/08 09:18 AM #1673

Tracy Graff (Patterson)

HIS DADDY Shari, that strong willed little boy takes after his daddy (and maybe his Aunt Chelle)! See Gina, I got your back...even if I do talk to your bratty little sister on Facebook.

Shari, can't wait to see you in your pink shirt and puffy vest. Wish you could be w/us tomorrow night to show it off. I like pink...bought Butch a pink Super Grover shirt you'd love..."Real Men Where Pink".

Andrea...not sure on the husband tag-a-long thing. DeDe's husband is going I think. Mine is debating on whether to yet again go hunting this weekend. I told him we were getting the Xmas tree this weekend w/or w/out him though...he's not sure what he's doing yet. If he doesn't go hunting, he'll likely go to Squeakers but will probably be w/some of his buddies.

Shari-I think that is awesome!
I did hear that Pink is the New Black...even saw a boy or two wearing it, well I thought they were boys...lol!

Belinda Allen (Mobley)

Gina-my sister says that when her kids woke up crying that she didn't turn the light on when she went in to check on them. She would just go in act like it was no big deal and pat them on the back or whatever til they went back to sleep. Her littlest one makes himself sick sometimes too! :( Try not to stress out too much...they can sense that too!

12/04/08 02:41 PM #1676

Gina Blow (Miller)

Tracy -- thanks for having my back. Both of my boys are EXTREMELY strong willed just like their father, and yes, their Aunt Shell too! I swear they should both be her children, they remind me so much of her!

Belinda -- are you kidding......I never turn the light on when I go in his room. I'm doing good to have 1 eye open much less turn any lights on:) Seriously, I really only have 1 eye open most of the time b/c I am so darn tired. He did make it thru the night last night.....a full night's sleep is heavenly! I was getting stressed out just from the fatigue of it all. Let's hope he is on his way to breaking this crazy cycle. Maybe I will write a book, I will leave out Shari's advice though.

Where's Nolan been?

Bill -- how's it going in NC? My sister did a traveling rotation there back in the day when she actually worked....haha. I went to visit, it was kind of like a blast into the past. She went to get her hair done out there and came out looking pretty scarey. Permed and "frosted"; it was extremely funny. Makes me laugh now to even think about it.
