Reunion day 2004, Robert Schwartz and I were dating. We stopped at the high school before the reunion and to my surprise, Bob asked for my hand in marriage. Remember our surprise announcement 10 years ago?
Activities that Bob and I enjoy: riding motorcycle---some 35,000 in the past 10-12 years; we enjoy travel by car—7700 miles in 4 weeks last summer to Seattle, Canada, and back.
We added to that trip—4 days in Denali Park, Alaska, and a week cruise back to Vancouver.
I've taken up painting in water colors and pastels; I've had a few exhibits and even sold some paintings. I found music again. I always enjoyed mixed chorus and girls chorus at FCHS, so I have joined a chorus of 80 voices in Lexington through OLLI (Osher Lifelong Learning Institute) at UK. I love having music in my heart and head again.
I've been sewing and painting furniture, arranging flowers, growing flowers and taking care of the yard. My sister, Susan Hart, and I have a business, "Sisters Remix Decor." We use furnishings and accessories that home owners already have and mix it up for a different interior design look.
Bob and I enjoy entertaining the grandchildren with sleepovers, craft activities and taking them places--same as you, if you have grandchildren.
I enjoyed and feel good about a 45-year career in nursing, but this phase of life is fun, too. Bob and I manage to stay busy with some R & R mixed in. We'll travel to Wyoming for a wedding and see the southwest, that we missed last year.
I write this to encourage others to share what is going on now and plan for the future. I believe this will help to make connections and find common interests in the present.
