Mission Statement
The mission of Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle is to go beyond the walls of Metropolitan to evangelize our local community and the world at-large (Matthew 28.19), make disciples, baptize and teach them the ways of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (Mat. 4.19, 28.19-20). Our primary goal is to love (1 Corinthians 13.1-13): love God (Mk. 12.29-30), love one another (John 13.34-35, John 15.12), and love all human beings as ourselves (Mk. 12.31). We challenge one another to love and demonstrate our love by good deeds (Hebrews 10.24). We come together often for worship (Acts 2.46, Hebrews 10.25), fellowship (Acts 20.7), to encourage one another (Hebrews 10.24-25), to assist persons in determining their gifts and utilizing them for Kingdom building (Romans 12.6-8, Ephesians 4.11-13).
Our intent is to be doers of the Word, not merely hearers of the Word (James 1.22). We further strive to imitate the life and teachings of Jesus Christ by proclaiming the Good News (Mark 16.15), helping the poor, the oppressed, the captive, and the blind (Luke 4.16-19); feeding the hungry and thirsty, clothing the naked, caring for the sick, visiting those in prison, and welcoming the stranger (Mat. 25.31-46).
