NEW YEARS EVE MESSAGE FROM JEANNE MCQUILLAN:

Greetings OLV Survivors of 1966.

As we are mostly the same age, giving a month or two either way.

THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT MESSAGE!

This is the best advice I have offered to my classmates.

If you have not yet gotten a Shingles vaccination do so asap.

I have had shingles twice...once in my late 40s and again in my late 50s.

It is not fun. It itches. It oozes. And the pain is indescribable.

I will admit that I have never had a cattle prod zap my head, but I think that is a pretty relatable sensation.

The first time, I was at UF so I went to the student health clinic. On my follow up visit, I saw a different doctor unfortunately for him, was wearing a tie. When he examined my blisters, he said, "I don't think there will be much scarring."

Scarring! I grabbed him by his tie and said, "Nobody said anything about scarring!"

I am still surprised that the didn't call the Campus Keystone Cops.

Fast forward into another decade and I was walking in the grocery store when I got a zap to my head. That felt just like when I had shingles. The second time you get shingles, you don't necessarily
get the pustules, just the pain.

I had my shingles on my head. Worse case scenario because if they get into the optical nerve, you go blind.

My New Year's gift to you: Get the Shingles vaccine!

Best hopes and outcomes to us all in 2015!

Jeanne McQ

Larry Szybkowski

The mother of Lawrence Szybkowski, Anastasia Szybkowski passed away New Years Eve;  August 20, 1914 - December 31, 2014. She had breakfast with her daughter in her home of 65 years and went to take a nap, she then passed away. Most of us  will remember her as the lady in the cafeteria. She worked with Ms Moora (?) and then ran the cafeteria for 45 years and did all the cooking for the OLV church events and festivals. She started the hot lunch program.

Wake will be at Dalton's Funeral Home Sunday 1/4/2015 and Mass on Monday then to St. Charles in Farmingdale.

We will miss her.

More info will be on the Dalton's Web site.

Does anyone know what happened to jeanne Mc Quillan ?? It seemed sudden...

Dolores (Sister Agnes Jeromita) (Bechtel)

Peg--I had been in fairly regular contact with Jeanne and she was taking of her partner, Judy during  a long illness. Jeanne was always being as humorous as she could be but life was hard. Ironically, she had a fall while doing some errands from what I understand and suffered a head injury which resulted in her death.I will try to get in touch with her family if possible . I do have her partners address and will try to find out how she is doing herself.Dolores 🙏

Thanks Dolores. Quite shocking. I had a fall myself a few months ago, one minute your up and the next your on the floor. For me, it was a simple trip, at work no less. I fell onto a stone tile floor and fractured my orbit above my eye and hurt my wrist, not to mention my pride! In retrospect I was very lucky. No residual.

I was so sorry to hear of Jeanne's passing. She was a live wire! How are you? Health good?

Please keep my mom, Sophie Viscuse, in your prayers.  She passed away on Saturday, January 28th at the nursing home she was residing in since suffering a fall in her home in August.  She had been in declining health since then and recently lived to see her 96th birthday in December.  She had a fantastic life and will be missed by many.  RIP mom.  Thanks.

Just returned from a visit with my son in Bangkok when I saw the message about your mom's death. I lost my mom in June very suddenly. I have experienced some of the feelings you are going through. It took me a while to stop thinking I could just call her and tell her about something she would love to talk about. I know that her love for you will transcend the separation you feel. She's still there right around the corner! Hope all are showering you with love in your sadness. Peace, Kathy

We made our First Holy Communion on this date, May 13th, 1960.  However, it was a beautiful sunny today, unlike today's monsoon rain. Sal still probably the Super V8 film of the occasion.

I recall wearing snappy and stylish white shorts for the blessed occasion !!

I just want to thank everyone for remembering my family in their prayers during this difficult time of the passing of my wife Erica.  Sadly, her condition worsened these last few months with the return of the cancer in its original location as well as a detection in a new area as well.  She had begun immunotherapy (keytruda) treatments which had given us hope that it might slow down the growth of the cancer.  Although her passing was a bit sudden, I take solace and comfort in knowing that her pain and suffering is now over and that I was able to be there and care for her right up until the end.  Thanks again to everyone.
