Just learned today that Debbie had passed it broke my heart to hear this.  Debbie and her family took me in when I moved to Ferguson in fifth grade we were both so shy but together had so much fun.  My family was struggling at the time and they saw that and I felt a little like Cinderella her mom loved to dress me up which Debbie hated  so she was so happy to let me be the one to take that roll.  We stayed close until high school but our lives went different ways she went on to college I got married our senior year and had my daughter but we continued to stay in touch during summers when she was home.  I know at one time she was engaged but ended up breaking it off and it was very hard on her and she was plagued with health problems but she always had that beautiful smile and heart.  As time went on I moved to California and Kentucky and back again-harder to stay in touch I do remember probably one of the last nights we spent together she invited me over for dinner I was going thru a very bad divorce and struggling with being a single mom and so she’s like come over will have dinner and watch a movie and sure enough the one she picked was about a woman going thru all the same things I was.  She was so embarrassed but then it turned into a laugh fest because she was so embarrassed and we laughed till we were both crying.  I will miss her always and saddened to know we lost touch!!
