college and graduate school, University of Chicago
Married my college boyfriend and moved to Portland, where I taught end grade and he was an intern. We moved to Palo Alto, CA, where I continued teaching and we were divorced.
I left teaching and went to work at Lockheed, in Information
technology, where I got mky technical education. Went to
Austin TX with Lockheed for 7 years and returned to Silicon
valley in 1987. Taught web subjects in adult ed and worked in industry until the big tech crash in 2000; I re-upped my teaching credential and taught in Marysville a couple of years. Got a job in
Sacramento, partly retired in 2004 and became a political activist and a senior advocate.
focused on healthcare issues and preserving Social Security and Medicare; became involved in Gray Panthers, the Older
women's League, the California Alliance for Retired Americans, AARP, and the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare (www.ncopssm.org). Needed at least a part-time job to pay rent so I moved to San Jose this year. Found a job and am still here.

No kids, no marriage, have two dogs.

School Story:

I actually didn't have a lot of fun in High School; was about as insecure as one kid could be in retrospect, but I did love classes and I know school saved my life. It was where I was treated well and I remember my friends fondly (Sue, Paula, Carole, Kathy, Meredith, Lenny, Bob). I also really liked my teachers: Mr. Johnson, Mr. VanderWeyden, Mr. Rumsfeld, etc.

My home life was pretty chaotic and school was my escape. I still take classes or learn something new when I feel low.
