Went to 1 yr of college, came back home and worked then in January 1964 my father was transfered to Topeka, Ks. so decided to go with the family to Kansas and have been here every since. Went to work for the Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe R.R. where I met my husband and we married in April of 1968 and next year (2013) we will celebrate of 45 wedding anniversary.
We have lived on a small farm all this time and at different times we raised Quarter horses, rodeo bulls and always cattle and our crop was hay. We decided a few years ago to do away with raising the cattle and just rent out the pasture but do still harvest the hay crop and sell the bales.
Santa Fe R.R. was bought and is now the B.N.S.F. Railroad. Because of a government decision related to the railroads we were able to both retire when we reached the age of 60 with full retirement benefits (Mike is 6 years older than I am - so at retirement time age does make a difference), so we did that and have been doing whatever we want to do since then.
We have three grandchildren and now two great-grandchildren, so we really enjoy visiting all of them.
