Classmate Linda Brandel Smith passed away in Fort Dodge, Iowa on September 5, 2019
Linda Smith, 70, of Fort Dodge, died September 5, 2019 at Trinity Regional Medical Center. Memorial visitation will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 9, 2019 at Epworth United Methodist Church. Interment will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Linda Elaine Brandel was born on December 15, 1948 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Charles Brandel Sr. and Bernadine (Campbell) Brandel. Linda was educated in the Fort Dodge School district and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1967.
On June 17, 1971 Linda was joined in marriage to Douglas Jones Griffel from the union was born a son Duane Douglas Griffel and a daughter Dena Elizabeth (Griffel) Green. The marriage ended in divorce. On July 27, 1996 Linda was united in marriage to Phillip James Smith. Linda worked several retail jobs during her life. Linda’s last job was the church secretary at Epworth United Methodist Church. Linda was baptized and was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband Phillip; her son Duane Griffel, and daughter Dena (Jeffery) Green, stepson Nathan Smith, honorary daughters Verity Shay Jones and Kirstyn Dore Jones; 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; her brother Lonnie (Carole) Brandel, Kurtis (Billie) Brandel, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
