Carolyn Crumley Kleen

After a few fun years at college, rooming with Chris Carney, I graduated from UNI in 1993 with a degree in English and German. I taught high school English and German in California before moving back to Iowa.

Dennis and I married in November of 1994 and made our home in Ankeny. He has worked with the Iowa Department of Transportation since 1985. I recently returned to teaching after working as an event planner and editor in the association management field for a number of years.

Dennis and I keep busy with our sons by walking, biking, swimming, and just plain old hanging out. We are also involved in our community, church, and school.

I have wonderful memories of goofing around with Jill Garton (who I've known for darn near 39 years!) and all the fun we had. Her phone number is still etched in my memory after all these years!

Probably my most vivid memory was being in Mr. Severson's class with Eric Vanstrom when it was announced over the intercom that the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded. Mr. Severson just put his head in his hands and was speechless. Definitely a somber day.
