I got my AA at ICCC.
Then, I moved to Missouri and went to college with Gina A. at CMSU. Man, did I LOVE those years. I met my husband there almost 2 years later from a friend who took me to my first rugby game. He was the president of our college's rugby club and the president of the Intrafraternity Council at CMSU. I moved to Omaha after graduation for a short time and stayed with his grandparents who were ill, and took care of them while he finished college. Stacey Schott (Weinrich) and I became VERY good friends, and I am actually the godmother of her first daughter.
In 1995 we moved to my husband's hometown (Michigan City, IN), where we have resided since. We got married in '96. We live about 45 miles east of Chicago on Lake Michigan. It is a touristy community. I got my Masters a few years ago in Illinois, and my husband got his at Indiana University.
I have been a teacher for 14 years here in a high poverty, inner-city school. I taught kindergarten for 8 years and currently teach 5th graders. It is a challenge EVERY day, but I enjoy it, and couldn't imagine it any other way. It has opened my eyes to A LOT of things, I never knew existed outside of the small world of Fort Dodge, IA. It has taken me to various places in the United States as a presentor because a lot of our programs are cutting-edge and popular because of our achievements. My husband is currently the director of a mental health practice here and manages several therapists. He has a private practice as a therapist also. PLUS, he is the rugby coach for Culver Military Academy in Culver, IN. As you can see we keep busy.
I have two children. One, Aubrei Marie, was sent to heaven in 1998 after being born still. Soon after losing her, we got pregnant with Collin. It was a difficult pregnancy, many problems, and he was born 4 weeks early and was nearly 10 pounds. He ended up in Neonatal ICU due to his lungs not being fully developed, go figure. Collin takes Karate, Jui-jitsu, and takes weapons classes. He also is a soccer player and baseball player for two clubs here in town.
I love where I am at in my life, and wouldn't want it any other way.
