BOOTHBAY - Alan J. Plourde, 46, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007, with his significant other at his side, at St. Andrews Hospital, Boothbay Harbor, after a courageous battle with colon cancer. Alan was born July 30, 1961, in Fort Kent, the son of Benoit J. and Imelda Parent Plourde. He was a graduate of Fort Kent Regional High School and Northern Maine Community College, as a licensed practical nurse, LPN. Alan spent most of his life working in the medical field, starting as a nurse's aide and continuing with his LPN work at Eagle Lake Home, Eagle Lake. He moved to Boothbay in 1990 and began work as an LPN at St. Andrews Village and with several promotions, became manager of Gregory Wing and Safe Havens at St. Andrews Village. He finished his nursing career at St. Andrews Hospital Acute Care, retiring due to his failing health. Alan was a devoted and loving father to his three children. He supported them wholeheartedly in everything they chose to do. He also enjoyed riding his Harley, especially when accompanied by his companion, Debbie. Alan was predeceased by his father, Benoit Plourde; and his sister, Mona Plourde. Survivors include his three children, Ben, Kristi and Megan Plourde, all of Boothbay; his significant other, Deborah Locantore of Boothbay; his mother, Imelda Plourde of Eagle Lake; five sisters, Beulah Knight of Small Point, Sandra Jandreau of Portage, Gail Stadig and husband, Gary, of Chugiak, Alaska, Linda Washington of Elk Grove, Calif., and Debbie Cormier of Eagle River, Alaska; three brothers, Lloyd of Spring, Texas, Marc of Hermon and Terry of Fort Kent. Visiting hours will be held 5-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 3, at Simmons, Harrington and Hall Funeral Home, Wiscasset Road, Boothbay. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, at Our Lady, Queen of Peace Church, Atlantic Avenue, Boothbay Harbor, with Father Alfred Irving officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Boothbay. Should friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the St. Andrews Hospital Free Bed Fund or St. Andrews Hospital Acute Care, care of St. Andrews Hospital, P.O. Box 417, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538. Arrangements are entrusted to Simmons, Harrington and Hall Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Boothbay.
