Comments:
Spent most of my time in Fort Mac after graduating worked for the City and out at Syncrude for contracters for a while. My husband Nick and I left Fort Mac in 1981 and travelled overland to South America, In 1982-83 travelled to Australia and New Zealand then spent four years living and traveling in the UK and Europe, during that time we travelled overland to Africa for 18 month (seven months of that trip riding in the back of a converted ex army truck all overland and seven months on public transport and hitch hiking which proved to be very interesting!
On to 1986 we again travelled overland to India, Nepal, China and Pakistan for 18 months (see a pattern here 18 months hnmmm) as well as touring through south east Asia. Returned back to Canada in 1988 before getting married in England after living in sin for 12 years! Had to go back to work to finance our travels (as you can see it is an addiction). Travelled again overland to Central America for 4 months which was just after the Panama / American conflict.
We then ended up back in Fort McMurray for about 15 years (stuck in a rut) where I worked for the City, College, RCMP and various other jobs attended Keyano for a couple of years and the bug hit us again so decided to sell up and retire so now we can travel more with no restrictions!!
Life is short so make the most of it. No children so able to come and go as we please! We are lucky in the fact that we both love to travel and meet new people and experiece different cultures.
Fort Mac has some major changes since I first moved up there in the early sixties..visiting relatives is about all I do there now!
Sorry to have missed the reunion but I am sure my brother will have some tales to tell..
