Birthe Eriksen Skoberg

After graduating from school in 1970 , I went to work at the Town Office in Ft. McMurray. In 1972 sister Irene and myself took a trip overseas to Denmark for 5 weeks. In 1973 I met my husband (Ken) and left McMurray to move to Calgary. Returned to McMurray in 1974 to be married. When I married Ken I also received a four year old daughter (Tammy) We lived in Calgary until 1978 and moved to Lougheed, Alberta (60 miles east of Camrose) to Ken's family farm. Between 1976 and 1980 we added three sons to our family. We also have nine grandchildren....even managed to get two redheads in the bunch. The oldest is 21 and the youngest is 8 months. We still farm and our youngest son has now joined us in that venture.

Ken and I have done some travelling. We have taken a couple of cruises with family and we did a Europe trip last year with sister Irene and hubby Maurice. I hadn't been back to Denmark since the trip in 1972. Had a wonderful time. Ken has a Swedish background, and spent some time there meeting some of his relatives.

I have been very fortunate to have had good health over the years. All my siblings are in Alberta. Unfortunately both my parents passed away at the young age of 69 years.

I have been out of contact with most of my school friends, so I haven't had anyone to twig my memory. I enjoyed my sports....more then my school work. Bus trips to Lac La Biche and Grande Centre for tournaments. Trip to Athabasca with the Drama Club.....not sure why...I wasn't in the Drama Club. Sleep-A-Thon...don't think I quite made it. School Dances....alot of fun.... Peter Pond Cafe....lots of pop and coffee....probably played hookey a time or two????????????????? Mrs. Humenuk's Business Ed's classes....good teacher....her classes helped me get my first job.....No not the one as a pump jockey at the Shell Service Station.
