What a shock!  I'm sorry to hear about Felix passing away!  He was everybody's friend.  Never an unkind word about anyone.  I remember peanut and butter sandwiches at the Poppell house during sophomore luch, surfing at North Beach and week-end boat races with Felix. He  had the fastest E-class outboard in the state for several years.  Rest in peace, my friend.

I was shocked to hear that Felix had passed away.  I think it was Johnny Weathers who wrote me with the news.  I hadn't seen Felix in years...perhaps since the 60's.  I spent a lot of time hanging with him.  He was a really cool guy.  I can still picture him standing (slouching) with his hand on his hip...wearing those yellow jeans he liked to wear.   I think his mom special ordered them for him at Rubin's.  Before the Beatles, we both had flat top haircuts with a DA in the back.  We'd go together to Manny's barber shop in the Arcade building to have them properly cut.  Then it was a copious amount of butch wax that kept them upright in front...and Royal Crown polmade for the sides and back.  I remember in the early days of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, watching the groups on TV at their house. The times, they were a changin'.  We were sufing buddies in the early days of surfing in Ft. Pierce.  We spent a lot of time chasing waves in his little white Ford Falcon.  He had a nickname for that car...I think it was George, but I'm not positive.  I also tagged along to many of his boat races to Miami and the Keys...I called myself his "crew" but in actuality I was just his gofer.  I knew nothing about boats or boat motors.  He, on the other hand was a boating savant.  Growing up with Felix and Francis is one of the experiences that shaped my life.  I didn't realize it then, but I sure do now.  His passing is just one more hole in my heart...it makes me feel guilty for not making more of an effort to get in touch with him these past few years.   Our little family is getting smaller and smaller...

Aloha Felix...you are a really good friend!

Prayers and hugs to you Francis, I hope in time all the good memories you have of Felix will take the place of some of your heartache.

Courage is the word that comes to mind when I think of Felix! Our senior year he came to class in a wheel chair and bandages around his heat because he missed so much school that they said he had to be there. Great guy and a good friend, I am blessed to have known him. We will miss him.
