Posted by Krista's niece on Facebook ... “I write this with a heavy heart, but last week my quirky, stunningly unique, generous Aunt Krista passed away of a heart attack. She was not young, but it was still shocking as she seemed truly like her typical unconventional self visiting over Christmas. She passed in her 40 year home in Boca Raton, Florida after having just returned (driving!) from Cincinnati . One of our close friends said just a few weeks ago, “the world needs more Aunt Krista’s”, meaning people who can be insanely authentic and unabashedly themselves. Krista brought a unique flair of humanity to every environment she was in from 30 years of dedicated work with the “friends of the library”, to her world travel to every continent except Antarctica. She was one of the first female executives at IBM where she had a long career, and has probably canvased more homes for political campaigns than I would ever know. She was always for the underdog and loved to meet needs when she knew about them. She squeezed every ounce out of life and we are all so sad and shocked to know she’s gone, but also thankful to have known her so intimately.

Krista and I were not close friends the two years I attended the wonderful Concordia, but we did talk many times. I found Krista to be very kind and friendly. She is obviously going to be sorely missed by her family and her community.
