Maurie and I would like to thank you for including us in your prayers. Last week was a difficult one for Maurie but he seems to be doing better today. We continue to pray for faith and courage for all of our classmates.

Dear Classmates, hale and hearty and/or winged a bit,

A big thank you to those who have been keeping this forum going.  Busyness, or is that some of the old laziness, has kept me from adding words of comfort to those who are hurting.  Gift with words has never been my long suite but thoughts of love and encouragement are extended from here in the Valley Of The Little Raccoon to Concordia classmates around the world.

                                    Love,   Debra and Mark Gerberding

Hi  to  all  the  class.

I am  very  sad  to  report  that  Cart  had  a  stroke  on  Sept. 1,15  and  is  now  in  rehab.

Things  are  not  going  to  well.  Age  is  also  a  big  factor. His  right  side  does  not  walk  to  well  and  he  can  not  walk  right  now. Cart  could  be  wheel chair  bound.  Please  keep  us  in  your  prayers. Just  give  me  the  strength  from  day  to  day. I  know  there  is  a  lot  of  us  in  the  same  boat  so  how  about  one  prayer  for  all  who  are  in  need  of  physical  or  mental  needs.

Thank  you  one  and  all

NoVelle

Hi, Novelle,  I pray that by now Cart is showing some improvement and that through prayer and therapy, he will become more mobile.  You have always been a strong person and your faith and trust in the Lord will see you through this ordeal.  May God bless the doctors and therapists with the right knowledge to help Cart get well.

Love,  Marge

Dear Classmates:   This is a second try at thanking you who feel sympathetic for our family's loss of the eldest sibling, Miles.  He had 85 great years of living.  We lost a sister, Charlotte, in 2013.  It is now down to three of us.  Death seems to be such a waste; shouldn't it be outlawed?

Best wishes and Christian love to  each of you.

NoVelle Doehrmann Franklin & husband Cart Franklin

Last evening I talked with NoVelle and she asked for prayers for Carts recovery and prayers to help her with the medical issues.  This past Monday Cart fell and broke his hip.  It was "fixed" on Monday evening and now the healing and recover process has started .Cart is a wonderful young man at age 95 and in good spirits.  He will probably be moved in a few days to a recovery center.  A few months ago he suffered a stroke and was recovering with the help of a walker.  When we visited him in September he was lifting his legs and doing rather good. Then he progressed on to a walker for assistance.  Their computer crashed, to add to NoVelle's challenges and she will not be emailing or on this website untill the new computer arrives and all the necessary items are loaded in.  So, be patient in trying to contact her for several days and she will be calling some of her friends when she has the time.  Keep them in your prayers.

Sending condolence and prayers to the Tom Lewis family, brother of Steve Lewis.

TOM LEWIS, 84, died peacefully on Monday, Dec. 7, 2015, at Cornerstone Hospice, Tavares, Fla., surrounded by his family. Born Aug. 31, 1931, in Fort Wayne, he spent most of his life in Indiana where he and Ruth enjoyed many enduring friendships, including their beloved bridge club. Tom was a graduate of Concordia Lutheran High School and Valparaiso University. He was a founding member of the Concordia Educational Foundation. Tom served Stateside in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was President of Lewis & Christen Office Supply Co. Inc. in Fort Wayne. Tom was a devout Christian and active in the Lutheran Church. He served as an Elder and on stewardship committees, sang in the choir, and volunteered for other church events. Since becoming Florida residents over 20 ago, Ruth and Tom divided their time between Florida and Indiana. Tom had a lifelong love affair with the family cottage in Indiana. He was an avid reader, golfer, boater and fisherman - always looking forward to putting the dock in the water every spring. Tom is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruth; brother, Stephen (Elaine); and sister, Cynthia (Richard). He was the loving father of four children, Martin (Diane), Karla (Michael), Krista (Fritz), and Marcus (Mariana); and grandfather of eight grandchildren, Kirsten, Michaela, Broderick, Johanna, Anneliese, Fritz Thomas, Katharina, and Madison. He was preceded in death by his parents, Velma and Robert Lewis. Service is 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14,2015, at Faith Lutheran Church, 2727 S. Grove St., Eustis, Fla. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Concordia Educational Foundation, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or Peace Lutheran Church Fremont, Ind. For information and guestbook, contact Page-Theus Funeral Home,www.PageTheus.com or (352)787-5511.
