Prayer and Care

Tom Golliver died in April, 2012 .... alone. He was preceded in death by his brother Steve and by his parents. He spent his last months as somewhat a recluse in a nursing home. Many of us didn't know Tom. He wasn't a star athlete. He wasn't a high academic. The only entry in our 1962 yearbook was: "Projectionist Club, 4." Yet Tom was one of us. He was a CLHS 1962 Cadet.

We encourage all classmates to post their prayer request in this Forum. Many of us are dealing with great challenges in life--cancer, heart problems, getting old, and for me, Parkinson's Disease. All we ask is that you remember us in your prayers and care for one another.

We have lost 4 classmates in the past year. It is likely that rate will increase as the years go by. Previous reunions were about our personal accomplishments. Let's make this reunion about caring for one another.

Dear Sara and Steve,

I just want you to know my thoughts and prayers are with you both.  Sara, I was at Concordia such a short time, but I do believe we shared a time together at Camp Lutherhaven.  So long ago.

Our son, Mark, when he was just 46 years old, had quadruple by pass surgery, so I know what you two are anticipating. However, the Doctors and nurses are so above and beyond in knowledge, skill and caring. Much more, add all the prayers and the tender mercies we have from our loving Heavenly Father, how can you fail to have success!

Ed and I, as well, are facing his needing his third pacemaker in three years, as his heart is weakening.  We just never know what the next day holds for any of us, do we?  But the knowledge that our Lord does makes all the difference as we face the unknown.

I believe I remember reading through our 50th year reunion book, and how you have come closer to our Lord through the trials and the stuggles we all have faced.  This will grow you stronger still, and help you encourage others.

My prayer for you will be for God's strength as the time approaches to face each day you have been given, and after the successful surgery, to follow through with all the dietary and exercising that will add to your life.  With His power and His direction, you will be able to do it.

Blessings to both of you as the time approaches.

Sandy (Kruse) Gobrogge

Dear Sara,

I am still holding you two up in prayer.  This is the same surgery our son had.  Each day will get better for him, even though it seems overwhelming.

Blessings to you,

Sandy

Please pray for Jim and Lynn Hitzman as Jim starts on a new path of cancer treatment.  Jim had one kidney removed recently and now there is other cancer to deal with.  More will be available later.

I talked with Dave Egts yesterday.  He had a lung removed last year and now he is in a chemo treatment program  for additional cancer.  He has asked that we pray for his recovery.

Jim, Lynn and Dave,   I am so sorry to learn of your recent health issues!  I am and will be praying for you!  God is with you always!  You will be in my thoughts and are already in my heart!  If there is anything I can do to help, in anyway, I'm here for you!  May God give you strength and love as you go through this difficult time.  Always, Nancy

Please keep Maurie & Regina Hahn in your prayers (see message below from Steve Hans.)

Please add Maurie to the concerns and prayer list. He began 3 months of chemo therapy a week ago for lung cancer. Regina also had knee surgery a few weeks before that. I think they need to be in our prayers. Maurie went through the first treatment in good shape, last that I heard.
