LEONARD WILLIAM MILLER Leonard “Len” William Miller, 75 of Ephrata, Washington, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2019 at Columbia Basin Hospital in Ephrata after a 20-year battle with COPD. Len was born on October 12, 1944 to Edward and Anne Miller in Takoma Park, Maryland. He graduated high school in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1962, then joined the US Army where he served until 1965 as a helicopter mechanic. After leaving the service, he went to school in Oklahoma to get his airframe and powerplant license so that he could pursue what became his lifelong career in Aircraft Maintenance. Len was a quiet man who loved his family deeply and devotedly. He met the love of his life, “Sam” (Margaret) Miller while they were both working at an airline company in Livermore, California in 1974. They were married in Reno, Nevada on December 31, 1975 and spent the next 30 years in Reno working and raising their family. Len and Sam eventually moved to Ephrata to be close to family and it is where they eventually retired. Len was a very talented handyman who could fix just about anything. His hobbies were woodworking and restoring antiques. He was an active member of the Community Evangelical Free Church in Soap Lake, Washington. He loved his church family and he loved the Lord. He was a “seasoned saint” – someone who has worn calluses on his elbows going through scripture and reading literature that defines and interprets scripture. Len is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, “Sam” (Margaret) Miller; son Shawn Miller (Lisa); son Brian Miller (Jennifer); daughter Machelle Miller; sisters Barbara Zoch (Allen) and Karen Scott; as well as many cousins and 11 grandchildren. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, March 21, 2020 at 11 a.m. at the Community Evangelical Free Church in Soap Lake, with lunch to follow.
