DENNIS ALLEN COPLEN, 72, was called to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2021, surrounded by family. Born May 21, 1949, in Fort Wayne, Dennis was the son of the late Allen and H. Faye (Lambert) Coplen. Dennis was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and good friend. His family brought him great pride and joy. Helping his family was most important to him. Dennis also enjoyed his Shelby cars, travels, and Notre Dame football. Dennis graduated from South Side High School in 1968. He retired as a Supervisor at the Allen County Highway Department in 2008. Dennis is survived by his wife of 34 years, Rosalie of New Haven; daughter, Heather Y. Smith of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Hannah and Colton, both of Fort Wayne; sister, Catherine Crandall of Cumming, Ga.; brother-in-law, Fred Kilpatrick of Fort Wayne; two nieces, and longtime loving friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Karen Kilpatrick; and brother-in-law, Richard Crandall. Funeral service is 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2021, at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne (IN 46805), with visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Entombment will take place in Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.
