I also am saddened to hear Judy Humbarger passed away.
Judy was a homeroom classmate during high school.
I also enjoyed getting to know her. Judy was a friend.
I recall: Judy was an elite swim competitor and her swimming achievements reflected her competitiveness.
Producing a new American record in the 200 meter backstroke was such an awesome display of how strong Judy was mentally and physically at 15.
It was an honor being a homeroom class mate of Judy.
I remember Judy sharing with me her daily swim/school routines. Very little personal time.
it took a heck of a commitment to maintain the rigorous day to day grind Judy had to sustain. (Daily swimming-school-weekend competitions)
In fact, I was looking forward to seeing her in the 1968 Olympics.
After talking to her a few years ago on the phone, I asked why she didn't pursue 68 Olympics. She expressed that she did not have her swim coach she's had anymore, to make it happen in 1968.
Judy was sad, but was also relieved.
I'm saddened for her passing.
Judy's in good hands.
