Barry and I met in Warroad. I was working for the Roseau Area Hospital. I was the primary therapist in the satellite clinic we had located there. We started dating and 6 months later were married in St. Joseph's church near Mahnomen. That was in 1996 and we just celebrated our 14th anniversary. By the way, two of my brothers also have the same anniversary date (October 17th - Mark and Nancy - 29 years; Bob and Heather - 23 years).

Where else have you lived?

Duluth - college - 1983-1988

Fosston - 1996 to present

Ireland

Yes - Mark and his wife, Chris and my mom. Bob and his wife live in Mahnomen.

I did not think I would but I love being around family.

Do you still see/talk to/hang out with any classmates? Who?

A few when they are home. Ann in Ada. A few at sporting events.

What did you do right after high school?

College at St. Scholastica in Duluth. Physical therapy was a 5 year program. I played volleyball on the college team. We were national champs twice along with a 3rd and 5th place finish.

What do you actually do?

Work at the hospital 40+ hours a week as a treating therapist. I have treated many classmates' parents. Volleyball is a fall sport but we have a summer program that runs through the month of June. We host 9 tournaments during that time as well as attend several others. Youth Ministry - I coordinate the programs for the junior and senior high as well as teach the confirmation class.

How did you get into that?

Physical therapist: I was fortunate enough in high school to know what I wanted to do.
Head volleyball coach in Mahnomen: I coached right out of college in Roseau - junior high/C-team. When I moved to Fosston - I coached here 3 years at the junior high/C-team level. The head coaching job opened in Mahnomen and as I had two nieces coming up in the program, thought it was a great way to spend time with them. I had two nieces in the Fosston program and also had a chance to work with them while I was here. I was the assistant girls' basketball coach for 3 years in Mahnomen - I love basketball but driving 60 miles a day to coach 8 months out of the year got to be too much. So now I take stats for the boys' team. Their coach was the girls' coach for awhile.

Not alot -I for the most part, enjoyed high school. I thought at one time, it would be to go to a party. But now, I am glad I never went. My dad always said, "When you sign your name to something, you should be good for it." It means a lot to me now, knowing that I followed the rules of the MSHSL... and I can honestly stand in front of my players and say I never partied and be a good example to them.

Comments:

I graduated from the College of St. Scholastica with a physical therapy degree, lived in Roseau for 8 years where I worked at the hospital and coached volleyball at the junior high level. Barry and I married in October of 1996 and moved to Fosston. I have been a therapist at First Care Medical Services since then. I started coaching at Fosston HS in 1997, coached Mark's girls(2), at the junior high level until I took the Head Volleyball Coaching position in Mahnomen in 2000. 2 of my Mahnomen players have been my other nieces - Bob's girls. I then added to my list of jobs when I became the youth minister at St. Michael's and St. Joseph's in Mahnomen in 2003. Barry has a construction business but is also very involved by helping with youth group activities and video-recording volleyball matches for me. Life is great.
